Coach to Communicate

We are saddened to announce that the C2C project will no longer be offered through Texas A&M University. We are hopeful that the project will soon be renewed at a different university, however at this time are unable to work with new participants through our individual parent coaching. Our online webinars will be available to you through April 30, 2026. If/when we are able to return to offering parent coaching, we will reach out to those who register/have registered for our webinars and let you know. We appreciate everyone who participated in this program over the past 10 years and have sincerely enjoyed working with so many families across Texas!

Thank you for your interest in Coach to Communicate!

A webinar to introduce parents to strategies that can be used to help their child improve their communication skills
1. To register – visit https://texasampv.destinyone.moderncampus.net/ and choose SEARCH COURSES from the top menu.
2. In the search bar, type AUTISM or PREP, then click SEARCH
3. Choose the PREP Parents: Coach to Communicate course.
4. Click on the available section on the right side of the screen, then ADD TO CART. In your cart click CHECKOUT (there will be no charge).
  a. If creating a new account, fill out the registration information. Be sure to continue to click CONTINUE CHECKOUT at the bottom of each screen until you reach the page that says Receipt.
  b. Set up your Password (go to your email account and look for an email from TAMU-Continuing & Professional Education with NEW ACCOUNT in the title).
5. To access the course, visit https://tamu.instructure.com/login/canvas (or follow links provided in your enrollment notification email.) It may take a few minutes for this course to show up on your dashboard – you will receive an additional email (“Course Enrollment”) when your course is ready.
6. After logging in, complete the Parent Background Information Survey.
7. To continue to the Coach to Communicate webinar, scroll to the bottom of the page, and click next. This webinar should take 30-40 minutes.

How it works

Step 1: Webinar on Autism and Communication Instruction

Attend a free online webinar on ways to improve the communication skills of children and adolescents on the autism spectrum. Service providers may also attend this webinar.

Steps to complete:

1. To register – visit ModerncampusHome | TAMU – Continuing and Professional Education and choose SEARCH COURSES from the top menu.

2. In the search bar, type AUTISM, then click SEARCH.

3. Choose the PREP Parents: Coach to Communicate course (note:Educators wishing to earn Professional Development Hours will need to choose the PREP Educators course).

Our Impact

Based upon our data, our coaching sessions are effective at improving parental knowledge of and skill in implementing behavioral techniques. What’s more, the parents have learned skills that have been effective in improving social communication skills in their children! This increase is indicative of lasting change in parents’ skills after completion of their participation in this project.
